The Garma Key Forum, 8-10 August with the them of CREATIVE INDUSTRIES. One of the central issues and challenges to be discussed will be the extent and nature of the Creative Industries interface with Indigenous Australians, including cultural and commercial rights and the place of traditional art. An Indigenous economic development conference will again be held in conjunction with the key forum.

*The daily bungul and music performance, GARMA art exhibitions and projects, and evening entertainment and discussions.

Delegates will be able to take away practical insights from our research outcomes in the pastoral, mining, bush products, art, education, tourism and other industries, says Jan Ferguson, DKCRC Managing Director.

The Federal Governments NT Intervention will feature in discussions around governance (how governments administer and interact with people in the desert), currently being researched by the DKCRC.

In 1998, the State Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Dr Andrew Refshauge,
announced a major program for improving the health and living standards
of Aboriginal communities in NSW. The Aboriginal Communities Development
Program (ACDP) was established to invest $240 million over ten years to
raise the health and living standards of selected, priority Aboriginal
communities where major environmental health needs have been previously
identified.
