Nationwide there is no other "modelling competition" that contributes to the well being and expression of identity for a cultural group as does Kimberley Girl. Focusing on the Indigenous background apparent in many people within the region, each year we aim to find a young lady between the ages of 16 and 25 who can proudly show her heritage and be a valuable role model and spokesperson for young Indigenous women of the Kimberley.

The powerful works of Australian Indigenous artist Fiona Foley will be exhibited in London this month at one of the world's cutting-edge art spaces, Queensland Premier and Minister for Trade Peter Beattie has announced.

Mr Beattie said the Queensland Indigenous Arts Marketing and Export Agency (QIAMEA) has partnered with Brisbane Art Curator Andrew Baker and The October Gallery in London to present Fiona's first commercial solo showing in the UK from October 19.

The 2004 and 2005 forums were held at Parliament House and attracted in excess of 160 attendees. These forums brought together a number of influential and key community, government and business figures by focusing on the business opportunities for Indigenous communities across Queensland.

The 2006 Reconciliation Business Forum will again focus on important aspects in providing impetus to Indigenous economic development.

The Labour Day long weekend, March 11-12, will see St Kildas ODonnell Gardens transformed into a spectacular two-day indigenous and South Pacific Islander music festival Yalukit Willam Ngargee, meaning people place gathering.
