Gerry Ansey USA

Help us send Gerry to the USA in the footsteps of Paddy Mills. I am seeking sponsorship/ funding to help cover costs required by my son Gerry Ansey (17 years old). 

Firstly my family are long term Broome community members, of Yawuru and Karrajarri descent. We are active members of this community; all employed in jobs and actively participating in sport, recreation, culture and arts in this community. While gainfully employed, our income is not sufficient to cover costs that arise extracurricular, hence my request for support. 
Gerry is the youngest of my 5 children who is pursuing his dream to play basketball at NBA level and to represent Australia at the pinnacle - the Olympic Games. In 2017 Gerry is attending the Australian College of Sport in Melbourne, completing 2 Diplomas - Sports Management and Recreation as well as developing his basketball skills. He is also playing for the Melbourne Tigers Under 20 Men's 
(SEABL) Division. 
In March this year Gerry applied and tried out for the Team Oz Basketball 2017 USA Tour and is successful, subject to paying a cost of $6990.00. The costs are itemised in the attachment. Our immediate family have put in what funds we can afford to place the deposit to keep a place on the Tour for Gerry. 
Gerry's immediate goal after completing his education this year is to apply and attend a USA College under a scholarship and play College Basketball, creating a potential pathway to the NBA. The Team Oz Basketball Tour will expose Gerry to college basketball in the USA and he will be watched by scouts of different colleges. Gerry's dream to excel at elite level of basketball, as shown by Australian indigenous athletes such as Broome's own Rohanee Cox (Silver Olympian) and Patty Mills who is having an outstanding career with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and representing Australia. Gerry will also complete a degree while attending College (His current studies at the Australian College of Sports will provide the necessary entry qualifications for entry to USA College).
