BSL Earmark 40k for Yawuru Trading Floor
40k in Innovation Grants & Micro-Loans Earmarked for Yawuru Trading Floor
The Brotherhood of St Laurence have allocated up to $40,000 in innovation grants and micro-finance loans for Indigenous businesses presented at the Yawuru Trading Floor in Broome.
"This brings us one step closer to our dream of developing an ongoing fund to support Indigenous businesses presented through the ISX processes", ISX Chairman Gerhardt Pearson said today. "The form of this funding is particularly important. It's very hard for Indigenous businesses to get funding to support business ideas and proposals and that is what the innovation grants will support. Equally important are small loans to Indigenous micro businesses that cannot get credit from existing financial institutions".
"Our thanks again to the Brotherhood for their generous support and clear understanding of the pathway forward for many Indigenous communities".
