The Gay'wu (Dillybag) Program

The Torres Strait Cultural Festival occurs once every 2 years during the month of September on Thursday Island. On alternate years, a Music Festival is held.

The event is coordinated and hosted by the Torres Shire Council.

The Gab Titui Cultural Centre on Thursday Island also runs regular cultural events, demonstrations and workshops. An events program is available by telephoning the Centre on 07 4090 2130 or by entering the link above.

This day, the 3nd anniversary of the national apology there will be a protest against the ongoing Northern Territory Intervention and for Aboriginal Rights.

Nothing but broken promises!

Time to expose the Intervention for what it is really about!

Racism is not a special measure

Enough is enough! Spread the word; take a stand so the lucky country down under has equal rights

Share the Spirit will showcase some Victoria's finest Indigenous talent as well as interstate guests all of whom will entertain in the true spirit of reconciliation.

Taking place every year on Australia Day Share the Spirit has been created by Aboriginal people for all Australians to come together and celebrate the countrys Indigenous culture through music, performance workshops, information stalls, and most importantly through personal exchanges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
