The ISX was a runner up in the economic category for the 2006 Stockholm Prize.

In a field of over a thousand, and within a field of 151 finalists from 53 countries, the ISX received high commendation from the jurists of the 2006 Stockholm Challenge. Awarded in the Blue Room of the Stockholm City Hall, the same room in which Nobel Prizes are celebrated each year, the ISX was highly commended in the sphere of economic development. The ISX reached the final group of three named on the night of the ceremony, first prize went to ITC eChoupal from India. ITC eChoupal is targetted to benefit 10 million farming households by 2010. It was good to be in their company.

Volunteer Peter Botsman was in the US at the time and used frequent flyer points to attend the ceremony on behalf of Chairman Gerhardt Pearson, Deputy Chairman Kevin Fong and the Board of the BAMA ISX.
