National Indigenous Leaders Forum

For many years there has been talk of the need for an informal meeting place for national Indigenous leaders, that is open to all senior Indigenous leaders, with no fixed agenda.
Often Indigenous leaders come together in a crisis or political context where there is very little time to get to know each other, to share ideas and to define common interests. Indigenous Australia is made up of many nations and communities so there is a great need for a common forum with no formal agenda to bring people together annually, to nurture young leaders and to simply shoot the breeze.
The forum should be funded by an ongoing trust administered by investment professionals under the guidance of six concurrent Indigenous national leaders.
The forum would take place over a long weekend and would include social and recreational pursuits.
The forum's expenditure would be limited to travel and accommodation to allow national Indigenous leaders to get together. These funds would be allocated based on seniority, geographical representation of Indigenous regions and language groups and an annual young leaders nomination process.
The budget for the annual forum is $50,000 annually so the trust needs to be initially about $600,000.
We seek the support of six foundation sponsors prepared to sponsor the forum for $100,000. These foundation sponsors would be acknowledged annually in a forum communique issued to the national media by the national leaders forum outlining areas of interest and discussion.
Further details are available on request.
