Roebourne Art Group

Our art centre is located in Roebourne town, also known as Yirramagadu, fifteen hundred kilometres north of Perth. We work together to share our culture and stories through the artwork so that our community and culture stay strong. The paintings reflect our artists' individual style, and their unique way of interpreting their stories, culture and the place they live. We create vibrant contemporary paintings that are both beautiful and meaningful. Our paintings are a link to an ongoing, ever changing visual culture that started long ago, as can be seen on the Burrup Peninsula, the world's largest collection of rock art engravings.

Many of our artists have been exhibited in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth at leading Aboriginal art galleries, Indigenart, Mossenson Galleries and Hogarth Galleries. Recently, members of our art centre have been bought by the National Museum of Australia, and nominated for the premier Indigenous art event in Darwin, the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Prize. We continue to participate in exhibitions, festival and cultural events so that we can share our culture and pass it onto the younger generations in our own community.

The Roebourne Art Group headquarters are located at 27 Roe Street, this is also a sales/exhibition space where you can view work from the artists that we represent. Roebourne Art Group works towards building a sustainable community enterprise that promotes income generation, well being and empowerment to Ngarda nulli -Aboriginal people. We are happy to provide you with further information about our artists and their artwork. Please contact us on (08) 9182 1396 or via email at roebourneart@bigpond.com .
