Goolarri Training

In December 2003 Goolarri Media Enterprises received Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status.

Goolarri Media Enterprises currently has an excellent reputation on the National Training Circuit, for its Reality Based training model and has won the WA State Training Award for Excellence in Sept 2003, and a finalist in the Prime Ministers National Training Awards.

Vision:

Our vision is to develop a nationally recognized training environment intermeshed with cultural protocols and a focus on Indigenous media orientation. Goolarri delivers nationally recognised training, bringing together the highest of industry standards with cultural protocols linked to the fostering of Indigenous media and narrative - ensuring neither is ever compromised.

Goolarri Training is based on a practical 'reality' oriented model that aims to foster a new leadership savvy in the area of communications, media and the arts who can not only confidently tackle the discussions and independent narratives of Indigenous Australia, diversity, remoteness and the North West of WA in the public domain both now and into the future, but bring with such discussion a full understanding of the power of information, communication and the media.

Project: Upgrade training facilities and equipment

Goolarri Media Training is looking to upgrade the training facilities. Currently the training is hosted in modest facilities, utilizing minimal resources.

Our envisaged project would see:

    • A new and larger training room to support the growing number of trainees coming through the organisation. Ideally the new training room will include computer terminals to conduct off the job training sessions allowing all trainees access to internet and online training facilities at the one time.
    • A television production studio. The studio production setting is currently missing from the Reality Based Training Program and essential to ensure the highest standards of industry training in both traditional and new media uses of audio visual content.
    • Partnerships. The Goolarri Media Training Unit is also seeking partnerships with universities. We see great potential for cross pollination of skills and expertise to occur here, with some excellent returns.
    • Research and Development funds. Part of creating new opportunities within the training sector is to establish good research and development, not only into what content and applications can be developed through the training centre, but also what the region and its population need in terms of both media and information/communication based outcomes. Research and development in these areas will not only provide a strong basis for future growth, marketing and development of the training centre in Goolarri, but will be the major seed funding to developing a collegiate alumni, from whom to build future outcomes as part of the long term network.
In line with the last point, Goolarri is looking for investment to upgrade training facilities to incorporate Goolarri based studies into a tertiary degree program for Indigenous students. Goolarri Training offers a training centre of excellence delivering nationally recognised training at the highest of industry standards, underpinning practical training with a strong base in research and development.

When We hope to have the facility fully planned and funded by 2006, implemented by the end of 2007 and operational by 2008.
