TRYP (To Reach Your Potential) is the brain child of Col Watego, a proud Bundjalung and Torres Strait Island man with a distinguished 39 year career in the Australian military.

NSW South Coast Kids Shed

In disadvantaged communities there is sometimes a generational overhang in which young children at primary school do not have the guidance that is needed to help them when they encounter life problems. This then turns into a vicious circle that carries on into adolescence and adulthood. This project is about creating a way for young people to get back on track and to find a good pathway through life and learning. The shed will give young people  the opportunity to repair bicycles, skateboards and to learn about road safety.

Tamara Hair & Beauty

I am trying to begin my first hairdressing salon in a local suburb. I began hairdressing as a school based apprentice and was provided with great opportunities and i would love to do the same for other teenagers like my self. This is the begining of a much bigger dream. In the future i hope to go back to college to gain qualifications to open a training orginisation, to give back to young teenagers the same opportunities i was given and to make gaining a trade as fun and easy as possible.

Gove Youth Strategy

The overall objective of the Youth Forum will be to provide a safe youth friendly environment where young people, from across Gove Peninsula and associated homelands, can feel supported and enabled to participate in activities which will assist in developing their leadership and motivation levels. In addition the Forum will connect young people together in order to develop resilience and a sense of community through developing a better understanding of cultural difference.

Wilderness Project

Funding is sought to purchase 175 acres of rainforest south of Sydney to establish a drug-free residential treatment facility for children and young people with significant behavioural or mental health problems. There is currently no facility for the treatment of children under 12 with mental health problems in NSW. Project type is similar to the noted Brahminy Project in the Northern Territory. There is no other project like the Brahminy Project in Australia.

Walkabout Cultural Adventures

Join local Aboriginal guide Juan Walker on his half and full day tours as well as private charter tours, that visit the Mossman/ Daintree region and are led by experienced local Kuku Yalanji tour guide. Learn about the local rainforest Aboriginal people, whilst visiting culturally significant and interesting sights of this region.
