The Diplomacy Training Program is seeking applicants for its 16th Annual Human Rights and Peoples Diplomacy Training for Human Rights Defenders from the Asia-Pacific Region and Indigenous Australia to be conducted in Timor Leste from the 5th - 23rd June, 2006. The course will be held in cooperation with the Peace and Democracy Foundation of Timor Leste. Please find attached the program brochure and application form, and forward this information onto those you feel would be interested and would benefit from the course.

Diplomacy Training Program
Program brief:
The 16th Annual Training program is designed to bring together community advocates from across the Asia-Pacific region and indigenous Australia, particularly those working for non-government and community based organisations. The training will provide participants with knowledge of international human rights laws and the working of the United Nations and other inter-governmental systems. It will include sessions on: economic, social and cultural rights; civil and political rights; a human rights based approach to development; developing advocacy strategies; media and video skills; internet research and advocacy; an introduction to human rights fact-finding and investigation; corporate accountability and human rights; and the environment and human rights.
This is the second time that the program has been held in Timor Leste, the homeland of DTP's founder and patron, H.E. José Ramos-Horta.
