ODN - Making the Net Work
The Outback Digital Network (ODN) formed in 1999 is a formidable network of peoples and technology. This extraordinary Indigenous company is making the webcast and videoconference on May 19 possible.
See the Net Works!
Behind every great leader, every great business, and every great project you'll often find a great network of people. In the age of information, a network of people needs to be matched by a strong communications network. Whether the web-cast from the GME GME shed in Broome or the video-conference links into each of the centres that are being brought into the ISX throughout Australia, one group is behind the scenes making sure that these opportunities happen.
The Outback Digital Network (ODN) formed in 1999 is a formidable network of peoples and technology. In partnership with Network Design and Construction and Telstra Country Wide, the ODN has a broadband network already rolled out to 17 communities in the Cape York region, and other regions following in the near future. The Outback Digital Network represents the new phase of Indigenous empowerment, Indigenous self-determination and Indigenous business. With a board of directors brought to the table from the furthest points East, West, North and South of Northern Australia - the Outback Digital Network is a testament to the ability of Indigenous organizations and businesses to not only look after themselves, but to work collaboratively together to create outcomes beyond most people's imaginations - and certainly beyond the stereotypes of how Indigenous people utilise technology.
