2006 Reconciliation Business Forum

Date:  27 July 2006
Type:  Conference
Location:  Parliament House

A full-day Reconciliation Business Forum will be held at Parliament House on Thursday 27 July 2006.

The 2004 and 2005 forums were held at Parliament House and attracted in excess of 160 attendees. These forums brought together a number of influential and key community, government and business figures by focusing on the business opportunities for Indigenous communities across Queensland.

The 2006 Reconciliation Business Forum will again focus on important aspects in providing impetus to Indigenous economic development.

The previous forums have led to the development of partnerships between Indigenous communities and business and between Indigenous communities who are involved in similar business operations.

The 2006 Reconciliation Business Forum will build on the progress and networks established at the 2004 and 2005 forums. It will bring together community, business and government representatives to discuss the economic and social benefits of reconciliation. The forum will:

  • provide an opportunity for business leaders and the Indigenous community to identify possible economic development opportunities
  • allow government to outline policies and programs that can assist in developing partnerships and progressing economic development opportunities
  • provide opportunities to identify and highlight best business practices
  • discuss industry and business opportunities that exist in Queensland.
