Beringil | Bodjera

Beringil is the traditional Yuin word for ceremonial feast, this project is about supporting and developing the Aboriginal food industry on Yuin country in the NSW South Coast. There are three parts of this project: Bodjera - real market and commercial training in growing, selling food, Cunnunuri is about creating a local food distribution network for the South Coast of NSW, Tadjerail is about creating real work and pay for people who are disabled or disadvantaged in the South Coast food industry.

Bodjera is about creating real market training with farmers, fishers, bushtucker gatherers, cattle men and other food industry professionals on the South Coast with the aim of creating self employment for Aboriginal people. The first campaign is to raise $40,000 to support a market garden initiative beginning in 2015. The first year is about teaching all dimensions of market gardening. In the second year participants will create their own market garden. In both first and second years all produce will be sold through Flemington and other local markets.
